Hello everyone, I have had the pleasure of working as a Lead Character Artist on Hazelights latest game - It Takes Two. Coming from A Way Out to working on this game was a true game changer for the entire studio. During the years of production we faced a lot of challenges but I am very happy about how the game turned out in the end.
Throughout production of It Takes Two I was responsible for creating the spider family you encounter in one of the levels. My role mainly focused on figuring out the overall visual look as well as sculpting, modeling, texturing and creating fur. We wanted the players to feel comfortable around the spiders, especially the babies, so we went with a slightly stylized design and not too realistic. One way of achieving this (and probably the most important) is the fur. I would like to give a huge thanks to Mattias Westphal who created our in house fur tech and shader. Without it I wouldn't have been able to achieve the cute final look. I also want to give special thanks to Josefine Persson who sparked my creativity with some great initial concept art, the environment art team (especially Olof Norling who created the fantastic looking environments shown in my images) and our outsourcing friends at Mindwalk that helped out with retopo work. Couldn't have done it without you guys.
Finally a huge thanks to everyone at Hazelight! It was a collective effort and the entire team worked really hard to make this game happen. I hope everyone enjoys playing it as much as we did making it. Thanks!
